Pioneer Village

Who said summer had to be over just because school started again? We took the opportunity to take the kids to Pioneer Village to walk around and learn a little more about how the pioneers lived, played, ate, etc. We had so much fun that we ended up getting a season pass...we are excited for the Halloween, Christmas and many other special activities they do through the year. But here are some pictures highlighting the trip we just did. The boys learned how to do their own laundry..I think I will get a washboard and let them do it all now!

They learned that food does not just show up on the table. It is hard work getting those veggies growing and harvested!

The barber was in that day and Trenton decided he needed a haircut. So he pulled out the big shears and the sharp razor and went to work on my cute boy!

Although Trenton had been to school that morning, we decided he needed a little bit more learning while we were there.
Animals were big back in those days, so of course we had to visit the animals. We rode horses and pet some sheet and goats. Trenton was so helpful making sure that Braxton was comfortable in touching the animals. I love seeing them help each other!

Of course, we found a train and the boys were intrigued. All three of them love choo choo trains. They played on and around it as they hollered out "Choo choo, choo choo!"
The kids got to pan for gold. This was one of their favorite activities, but not so much for me. Trying to keep Braxton out of the water is a joke, but they had fun, so I guess that is all that matters. After they found gold they were able to take it to the Bank and trade it for some candy!
We closed the day with a yummy dinner at Red Iguana. Very authentic, yummy Mexican food. Of course, Grandma and Grandpa had to spoil the boys and bought them all huge suckers before we left Pioneer Village. So, after dinner all the boys got to tear off the wrappers and get their lick on!

Once again, I am so happy that my family has finally moved up here. We love having playmates to explore all the different things there are to do. Now here is hoping that the fun continues once the snow falls....
