A Special Haircut

The Story behind the haircut! There is a family in our ward that is going thru Mom having breast cancer. She has four cute boys, the youngest being 7. To be honest, Trenton really does not know them that well, just knows the youngest from Primary. Two weeks ago all the boys, including Dad came to church with their head shaved. Their family and extended family had a party the night before showing Mom their support in which the boys shaved their heads, they painted finger and toe nails pink, dyed hair pink, etc. When Trenton saw all the boys at church with shaved heads he asked why they had done it....he was not sure of the look. So, I explained to him what was going on and that they did it because Mom was going to be bald soon too. I told him that the youngest was not sure about his new do, so it was not nice to stare. He then looked at me and said he wanted to shave his head too so the youngest would not feel bad. He wanted to be bald just like that family. To tell the truth, I was not totally crazy about the idea. I love my baby with his blond locks....but who am I to take this experience away from him? I told him to think about it during church, and if he was sure he wanted to do it, we would shave his head when we got home. After some butterflies in his tummy he decided to do it! Afterwards we went to show the family our support! I had the honors of the cut, thru a little bit of tears, I shaved my baby's head as he taught me such an important lesson....to love everyone!

An Educational Field Trip

Want to be sold on a Mrs. Fields cookie tin to give as a gift? Then you too can go on a free tour of their gift making factory to see how it is all put together! Actually, we had a fun time hanging with the Smith's , Jewkes, Mom, Heather and Nickolas touring the facility! I was a little disappointed to learn the cookies came frozen to the factory, then heated up and put in the tins, but it was still interesting to see how it all came together. Braxton hated wearing the little hair cover, so I fought him most the time, but the kids all had a great time hanging out and having a treat afterwards!

Pioneer Day

Wow....what a busy day we had on the 24th of July. It is Pioneer Day here in Utah, and a state holiday! Mom has great memories of the parade that happens downtown from her childhood, and now that she lives here wanted to venture out to see it again! We decided we would give it a shot with her, so we headed out at 7:00 in the morning to stake out a seat and wait. I could not believe the number of people that had camped out on the street the night before. It was so blasted hot as we sat and waited, and then watched the parade, but the kids did pretty well. It was fun to watch once...will I get up and go sit in the sun for it again??? Probably not, and I would definitely not sleep on the street waiting for it. After our parade adventure we met up with the Weir's and some of their ward members to go for a hike. Braxton rode on Daddy's back and Trenton walked most of it. He actually did very well given what a long morning we had. It was fun being with everyone and trying our first official hike with the boys. I think we will do that again, just not after getting up early and sitting in the sun!

Swimming

We decided to go check out Murray Pool at the beginning of July. Trenton did SO WELL!!! He saw the diving boards and decided he was going to try it out. He was a little nervous at first, but after the first jump he was sold! I was a little nervous about him being able to recover from the jump in the deep water and swimming to the side on his own, but he showed me that swimming lessons have paid off! He and Dad had a great time jumping for most of the day. Braxty loved watching everyone jump into the water and laughed every time they hit the water! I love summer and the sunshine!
