A Weekend Getaway

This past weekend we packed up and headed south for a few days! Mom and Dad Crawford are thinking about retiring in Cedar City or St. George and came to Utah for the weekend to check things out. They called and asked us to meet them there....so what better excuse for a vacation than to visit with family! It was so nice to just relax and not have anything to do. We started in Cedar City and worked our way to St. George on Saturday. Once we got there Friday night we went to dinner and when we got back to the hotel Grandma and Grandpa had a little Spring surprise for the boys! They loved their very NOISY toys! Grandma told us she had a hard time trying to figure out how to make them be quiet as she was walking thru the store! Don't worry...we found the off button very quickly, but never the less...they loved it all!
Saturday we worked our way to St. George by going thru Zion's National Park first. It was a good drive, very pretty. You know it is a small town surrounding it when on your way out of the park the ONLY road in or out is blocked for an hour by a be-lated St. Patricks Day parade. You might have mistaken the place for Ireland with as much green and as many costumes we saw. Even Trenton was annoyed by all the "weird people getting in the way"! Once we did make it St. George we spent some time in the pool, had some pizza in the room and watched a movie all huddled together between a couple of chairs and the two seated couch!

As we slowly got ready for the day on Sunday Trenton decided to put his camera skills to the test. Here is a small showing of his work. I show it only so we see the progress starting from here...to who knows what he might come up with in the future!We decided to go to a "park" that had nothing but rocks to climb. The guy at the hotel said it was possible to see some dinosaur tracks if we looked close enough. We did not see any, but boy....remember that timid little boy of mine? Well Trenton got a bee in his britches and decided it was no longer time to be timid, but that he better hurry along if he was going to keep up with Grandpa as they climbed every rock possible. I must say, it was hard for me to watch, had to catch my breath a couple of times as Trenton would start down the rocks. But he did so good listening to the things Grandpa was telling him. I think they had the best time together!

Braxton wanted to badly to be able to play with the big boys. He did get to climb in some pretty cool caves. We tried to get him to go thru some of the holes, but he did not really like that! I think he still had a good time though!

After we were done climbing we went to walk the grounds of the St. George temple. It was really nice. They had a nice long stairway up the back door that Trenton wanted to climb up. Once he got up there he decided he needed some company!

We then headed back to the hotel for some sandwiches and more hanging out time before we had to hit the road. While Grandma, Dad and Mom geeked out on the computers, Grandma spent some time with the boys watching TV and having a pillow fight!

We had such a nice time hanging out and exploring with Grandma and Grandpa Crawford. We hope they end up moving up here sometime soon...even if it is a little south of us, 4 hours of driving is a lot better than 9-10!!! Thanks Mom and Dad for a great weekend!
